Custom Type Design & Development
Typographic needs vary. Most of the time, an off-the-shelf typeface will do just what you need. But when specialized applications are called for and very specific aesthetic requirements have to be met, creating an a new typeface or customizing an existing one can actually simplify and improve the production process.
After 20 years of type experience, my expertise and network of specialists are ready to take on any typographic assignment at a competitive price.
Situations that might call for a custom type solution:
-
Need for exclusive corporate type
For example: An indivudual type design is needed because you want typography to play a major role in your new corporate or brand design. -
Current corporate type costs too much
For example: You need a custom typeface design because long-term license fees for a current corporate typeface eat up too many funds. -
When your font needs an alphabetical extension
For example: Your Latin-only font lacks the required Greek or Cyrillic character sets or you have an incomplete design which you need to extend or turn into a working OpenType font. -
When an existing font does not suit your application
For example: The typeface works well in smaller point sizes but produces dissatisfactory results when used for headlines. -
Need for an exclusive logo design
For example: For a corporate, brand or product design you need a skilled typographic logo designer. -
Need for hand lettering based design
For example: For a particular product you need a very individual design that has the look and feel of hand lettering.
-
Adding functionality to an OpenType font
For example: you have an idea for a feature-rich OpenType font but need a skilled developer for those definitions. -
Integrating a logo into a font
For example: you would like to ensure the proper application and distribution of your logo over a variety of platforms and programs. -
Integrating graphics into a font
For example: For an orientation system you need an extensive set of graphical elements (arrows, boxes, illustrations, numbered bullet points, various types of lines,…) to allow more intelligent applications as well as to avoid the cumbersome and easily error-ridden process of selecting symbols manually. -
Missing font formats
For example: You have a typeface that works well for print, but now you also need variants that have been adjusted to meet demands of the office environment as well as the internet.
Please note: Adjustments to existing fonts are only possible with the licensor’s permission (check license or ask font publisher).
